Where You Should Take Your Better Half: Romantic Hot Tub Holiday

Where was your last romantic hot tub holiday? In my opinion we can’t treat our better half often enough!

No amount of time I spent with you, will ever be enough time.

Unknown

My partner and I love to present each other romantic getaways. It’s such an amazing gift and you put so much thoughts into it. The time you spend together, just the two of you, is the most precious. Because it let you reflect, recharge and touch base with each other (again). The memories, which arise from it will last for ever and will bond you (even) closer.

When I’m talking about this special romantic hot tub holiday, I don’t mean a weekend in a spa hotel. In this case a hotel isn’t quit what you’re seeking for. Because apart of your hotel room, what is private about a hotel?

It’s time for a romantic hot tub holiday

You and your better half need to exchange day to days business with a trip to that cozy romantic cabin in the middle of nowhere. Without many people around, who won’t hear or see you. And there’s no need to share any facilities with strangers. Yes, that’s what we want!

As near as Dorset and Devon or as far as the Peak District. All of these three regions are offering awesome nature surrounding and most important that cozy little place in the middle of nowhere. I will share our 3 most favourite romantic hot tub holidays with you.

One reason I’m sharing this is, that I always find it difficult to spot that perfect place, which fits all the criteria. There’re basically three things they need to have. Most importantly they need to include a hot Tub. For me there’s nothing more romantic than an excluded plunge area. Secondly you want to be surrounded by nature and last but not least they need to be super unique and romantic.

The following three romantic hot tub holidays have all of that and even more. What’s the reason I enjoyed and recommend them so so much.

The New Forest Lodges in Cranborne

The Lodges are part of the wonderful Gold Oak Farm located on the edge of the New Forest National Park in my favourite county, Dorset.

When you drive onto the farm, which is owned by the Butler family for almost 100 years, you pass cows, chicken and pigs. The check- in is super casual and the friendly farm staff will take care of you from the start. After you pass their traditional Farm shop you enter the back bit of the farm. While the front bit is exactly like you expect a farm to be- muddy, a bit smelly and animals all around you. The back bit will surprise you!

It felt like retreat straight away. The site is thoughtful created with little walking paths, two fishing lakes and enough space between each lodge to guarantee your privacy.

You can choose between five different lodges. Every single one comes with a unique layout, is super excluded and fitted with a log burner to put the cream on to the romantic atmosphere.

Back in March 2017 we stayed in the cozy “Wimborne Lodge”

It was an absolute treat! We spent the most of our weekend in the hot tub, enjoyed a BBQ on the veranda and sat with a glass of wine for hours and hours in front of the log burner while listened to Ed Sheeran.

You quickly get over the fact that there’s no pub or restaurant in walking distance. When taking the opportunity to stroll through the Farm shop to get your BBQ dinner or your breakfast items for the next morning.

If you aren’t the romantic type of person or simply like to enjoy your time with friends instead, don’t stop reading quite yet. The New Forest Lodges are offering some huts, which fit up to 6 people. Kids aren’t allowed, instead you can bring your little fluffy friend.

Thinking about some activities (apart of the obvious ones) to keep you lot entertained.

What about visiting the beautiful city of Salisbury with it’s lovely little shops and its variety of restaurants. Don’t miss out on a stroll through the Salisbury Cathedral with it’s 404- foot spire, which is the tallest in the UK. The historic cathedral is 15 miles away and while wondering around you feel like being in the atrium of Hogwarts.

Visit one of UK’s most famous landmarks, if you should seek even more history. Stonehenge is also a great idea to combine with your trip to Cranborne. It’s just about 28 miles away.

The Lodges have a booking rating of 9.5 (Exceptional), which speaks for itself. Apart of that you can trust our judgement, because we would go back there anytime. I would even go that far and say that it was my favourite romantic hot tub holiday so far.

Bluebird Penthouse in High Bickington

What about Devon for you romantic hot tub holiday?

The owners of the Snape Farm converted a 1950’s caravan in an amazing little love nest. Placed just opposite of the farm, in middle of sheep, you can enjoy the fabulous views over the Taw Valley. The caravan is excluded and you won’t see or hear the owners, if you decide not to. The highlight of the “penthouse” is definitely the hot tub built into a vintage Land Rover. On the great terrace you find the treasure, which functioned once as a farm vehicle. Together with a little seating area and the log burner you find yourself in the perfect outside setting for these special hours together.

The style of the caravan itself reminds a lot to the 50’s. From the shower over a kitchen to the big bed. Everything what you need is fitted inside. It’s welcoming and super cozy. If you’re lucky you’ll even find the wine cellar… Fingers crossed, you’ll be better in treasure hunting, than we were back in November 2017. Let’s say the fireworks display was the reason we didn’t find it. The view we had during Bonfire Night was spectacular!

You’ll experience, that there’s no need to explore the region, because the place is far too charming to leave even for a couple of hours. With no pubs or restaurants around it’s the perfect time to concentrate on deep conversations, hot chocolate in front of the log burner and so much time in the hot tub till your skin shrivels.

TIPP! Thinking about popping the big question? That’s the place you should consider!

The Laburnum Retreat Shepherd Hut in Upper Hulme

The little Hen Cloud Cottage is just on the outskirts of the stunning Peak District. A great place to spend a romantic holiday. The road to the accommodation is a dirt road and I wouldn’t recommend taking your lowered Porsche out for this trip.

There’s not much around apart of a camping area, one house and a farm on the end of the “road”. Surrounded by stunning nature and a lot of walking and hiking spots this is the perfect place for a quiet and active getaway.

You’ll find the Shepherd Hut on a cute designed terrace with BBQ facilities, seating area and the hot tub. The Hut itself looks like an old Circus trailer. You have the cottage in your back and stunning nature views at the front and sides. An excluded atmosphere is therefore guaranteed and no one will disturb you.

The inside is completely restored and fitted with a kitchenette, a log burner, a bathroom. The sparkler is a seating area, which can easily be transformed into the bed.

The Peak District- a highlight itself

We went to the Peak District in April 2019. After I found the Shepards Hut, I was happy (enough) to found an awesome trip for my partners birthday. Therefore I didn’t think too much about the surrounding and the activities themselves. To be honest this place surprised me almost like no other! Never have I imagined the nature to be that beautiful. The Roaches are in walking distance and it’s the perfect start point to go for a big hike. On top of the mountain you’ll find the Doxey pool. A hike in the early morning hours will definitely worth it. Then you’ll have the chance to go for a cheeky dip, before anyone else arrives.

After a quick drive or an extended walk you’ll reach the Tittesworth reservoir. It’s a lake with an active retaining dam. The things you can do in and around the lake are endless. There’re of course walking paths around the lake. You can also enjoy an outdoor picnic or BBQ, fish or jump on one of the several water sport activities. To end a perfect day grab an ice cream or a coffee on the terrace of the Visitor Centre.

Three Horseshoes

You won’t get bored just staying in the Hut, but it’s definitely worth to explore the beautiful nature around you. Even on a romantic holiday you need to eat.

The Hen cottage offers breakfast for a bit of extra cash. Personally we preferred to cook our own in the Hut instead.

If you aren’t fancy to cook by yourself, I would recommend the Three Horseshoes, which is around 5 miles from the Hut. It’s a stunning location with a beer garden in the front and a sun terrace to the back. Sip a cool beer after an active afternoon and get a delicious burger or another treat from the menu.

Who doesn’t admire a sunset like this.

While we sat on the terrace and watched the stunning sunset, we completely forgot that we had a 5 miles walk a head of us. Not really wearing the appropriate cloths for the chilly conditions either. But thinking about the hot tub back at the Hut made the time fly.

On one of the nights we chucked a couple of beers in our backpack and went for a walk through the night. We found the perfect spot along the nearby hill. It was full moon and you can’t imagine the magical ambience we were surrounded by. Could be a perfect opportunity for a romantic candle- light picnic as well.

All in all this trip took my breath away and I can’t wait to get back there one day.
